the red shoes

My new red shoes arrived today!  I saw this make (Bernie Mev) in a local shop and thought they just might fit my very troublesome feet.  The styles I saw were not anything I could possibly wear ~ heels, slides, tall wedgies, etc.) so I checked out on line and found these little flat, slip-on beauties.  The reason I like them is they are a woven elastic so they sort of hug my foot.  They are ridiculously comfortable.

I think they'll look quite fetching on the Champs Elysee, don't you?  Oh, did I forget to mention we're off to Paris in two weeks for a month?  Par suite d'une omission!

seven long years gone

Your laughter and smile are as sweet and fresh as these flowers, even after seven years.  Miss you dear Vicky.

shut out

I have been completely shut out of my Blogger page, as you can see by the notice above that comes up when I log on through the iMac.  I have done everything I can think of, including throwing myself on the Blogger "help" page that was, no surprtise, of no help whatsoever.  I have no idea what happened.  One day I tried to log on and got this strange screen message.    Fortunately the Air® will still let me in, but who knows for how long.  Even tried to get on via the iPod but it's so small it was really useless.  Let's hope this site continues to admit me.  Anyone else ever had this happen?  Anyone have any idea how to fix it?

Meanwhile, it's cooler here in the valley, now down in the 90's with a bit of a cool delta breeze.  The same is expected for tomorrow.  Pool warmed up nicely during those 100ยบ+ days and makes for a very refreshing treat.

Quirky movie to enjoy - Hello, my name is Doris with Sally Field.  She is terrific as a social misfit who travels an interesting arc during the film.  It got so-so reviews but I thought it was absolutely delightful.  Besides, I like her as an actress and she doesn't disappoint.

Hope all of you have a safe and sane 4th.

the celluloid life

Mr. C is notorious for his aversion to actually going to the movie theatre.  If and when he does actually agree to go it has to be for something really off-the-wall.  And it happens about once every other year.  So in the last week he has used up 4 years of movie-going.

A week ago we went to see Love & Friendship, the film based on an unfinished Jane Austen novella.  Great costumes, a couple of terrific character actors, a lot of mumbled, indecipherable dialog, some gorgeous real estate.  Critics have raved.  They must have seen a different movie.  It has also been noted that, unlike most Austen stories, the scheming character does not get her comeuppance.  I don't agree.  She gets the worst kind; life with a rich fool.

Talk about your off-the-wall.  The Lobster is a grim dystopian film with a few funny lines delivered by dark, sad characters  in a dark, damp location.  It was a shame to waste one of our movie-going dates on this one.

On the small screen, I have finished watching Grace and Frankie and I absolutely loved every single film cell that was used to create this crazy show.  The four main characters have all played in films together in one way or another.  Lily Tomlin is a full-blown genius!
